F\u00fcr die meisten Anwender und Anwendungen sind diese schlichtweg Overkill. Am anderen Ende der Palette stehen h\u00e4ufig kleine Router\/Firewall Systeme die sich z.B. durch VIA NICs oder das fehlen eine By-Pass Funktion f\u00fcr den professionellen Einsatz disqualifizieren. Da w\u00fcnscht sich der Networker eigentlich eine Low Power\/Low Performance Appliance, welche trotzdem High End Features hat.
\nMit den beiden neuen Systemen Teak 3011\/Teak 3258 stellt die IPC2U GmbH nun genau das vor. Die sparsamen x86-basierten Appliances f\u00fcr den Einsatz als Firewall\/Router\/IDS basieren auf der bew\u00e4hrten und sparsamen AMD Geode-LX800 Plattform mit 500MHz Taktfrequenz. Sie sind sowohl als robuste Desktop Ausf\u00fchrung (Teak-3011) als auch im 1U Rack Formfaktor (Teak-3258) verf\u00fcgbar und verf\u00fcgen jeweils \u00fcber vier Intel 82551ER basierte 10\/100MBit LAN Anschl\u00fcsse. Zwei der Ports bieten die im professionellen Einsatz so wichtige LAN By-Pass Funktion, eben eines dieser Detail mit denen sich die Teak-3011\/3258 von den meisten konkurrierenden Systemen ebenso absetzten wie durch die Wahl von Intel NICs. Die im Marktsegment vertretene Konkurrenz setzt in der Regel auf Realtek oder VIA Chips\u00e4tze. Die integrierte Security Engine unterst\u00fctzt 128-Bit AES in Hardware und bietet einen zuverl\u00e4ssigen, robusten Zufallsgenerator. F\u00fcr den Einsatz als VPN-Router ergibt sich hieraus eine h\u00f6here Leistung als die Taktfrequenz der CPU erwarten lassen w\u00fcrde.

\nInsgesamt scheint es sich bei dem P\u00e4rchen um zwei sehr interessante Ger\u00e4te f\u00fcr den Einsatz bei geringeren Leistungsanforderungen und dem Anspruch an hohe Qualit\u00e4t zu handeln.<\/p>\n
