IEI stellt passend zum Feste mit der AFL-4xx Serie weitere Modelle aus der AFL Serie vor. Die Neuen in den Größen 8“ Zoll (AFL-408A-ATOM & AFL-408B-ATOM), 10“ Zoll (AFL-W410A-ATOM), 12“ Zoll (AFL-412A-ATOM) und 15“ Zoll (AFL-415A-ATOM & AFL-415AE-ATOM) sind erstmals für den Wandeinbau konzipiert und sind sehr felxibel einsetzbar. Ausserdem sind  sie einem einfaches Montagesystem (siehe unten) mit Frontrahmen ausgerüstet.

Die Schnittstellenauswahl ist komplett und sie bieten frontseitig IP64 sowie einen überzeugenden Arbeitstemperaturbereich.

Alle Welt spricht von SSDs, nur Seagate hält sich vornehm zurück. Und hat auch gute Gründe dafür.  Der Hauptvorteil einer SSD gegenüber einer HDD, neben dem Fehlen beweglicher Teile,  sind die extrem kurzen Zugriffszeiten im niedrigen,  einstelligen Millisekundenbereich. Allerdings zeigen die meisten am Markt befindlichen SSDs sporadisch auftretende, drastisch längere Zugriffszeiten von einigen 100 Millisekunden ohne ein erkennbares Muster, wie die Computerfachzeitschrift CT berichtete. Eine konventionelle HDD bietet hingegen gut vorhersagbare Worst Case Zugriffszeiten. Selbst bei soften Echtzeitanforderungen kann dieses Verhalten missionskritischen Programmen die Luft zum Atmen nehmen. Bleibt der Nachteil der beweglichen Teile. Seagate antwortet darauf nun mit einer Serie besonders robuster HDDs, eben der EE25 Serie.

Was macht robuste HDDs nun für den Industrieeinsatz attraktiver als SSDs mit ihren verlockenden Eigenschaften? Das Stichwort ist, wie so oft:  Langzeitverfügbarkeit

Wo die meisten SSD Hersteller gar keine Angaben darüber machen wie lange Ihre Produkte unverändert verfügbar sein werden, gibt Seagate eine 5+ Jahre Verfügbarkeit an. Auch für die PATA Version.

VIA Trinity solves this problem with a discrete graphics card offering DirectX 10.1 support for advanced 3D graphics, Blu-ray playback, and support for all popular HD video formats, improving the quality of video playback and gaming and freeing the CPU to tend to other tasks.

Mit dem IOVU-751R  stellt die IPC2U GmbH ein weiteres Modell der erfolgreichen Windows CE/Embedded Linux basierten IOVU Serie vor. Dieser kann seinen Strom via PoE nach IEEE 802.3af beziehen werden und benötigt daher keine zusätzliche 230Volt Speisespannung. Zusätzlich kann der IOVU 751 auch einfach mit einer 6 bis 30V DC Quelle versorgt werden.
